One Search

From the Feedback box :

G'day, I am having trouble with onesearch. I am trying to access articles in the journal - Pediatrics. One of the articles is - Dietrich KN, Ware JH, Salganik M et al. Effect of chelation therapy on the neuropsychological and behavioral development of lead-exposed children after school entry. Pediatrics 2004;114(1):19-26. I have been able to find it on google scholar. I have been able to find this issue of the journal in the list of ejournals. I have been able to access this article through the ejournals. One search did not find this article. Dave

Library response:

Hello Dave

Thank you for taking the time to provide the feedback, it is very valuable for us to receive this kind of information, particularly when it appears that something odd is happening to one of our resources. I am glad you were able to locate the journal article in question.
I will pass your feedback to our Library Technologies Coordinator who will investigate and identify why the particular article was not available via OneSearch.
Kind regards
Kate

Student chatter on top floor which is a Silent Study Zone

From the Feedback Box:

Hi, I'd like there to possibly be a permanent officer to stay on the 3rd floor and check on the designated "NO TALKING/TOTAL SILENCE STUDY ZONES" (the ones with the clustered computers). Despite the signs, students continuously talk there, no matter how many times you ask them to be quiet. It's finals time and spaces in the library that are both quiet and have working outlets are few and far between. I'm amazed how you can be a university student and not know how to read or be so unbelievably inconsiderate. Students just walk by, see their friend studying, stop by and have a chat without having the common decency to walk away from a place designated as QUIET. It's unbelievable. So yeah, either a permanent, STRICT, officer, or giant floor length red signs.

Library Response:

Hi Jocelin,
Thank you for your feedback. Can you please tell me are you referring to the western or the eastern computer area on the top floor? In reality I do not have sufficient staff where by a staff member can be permanently located on the top floor. I have however organised for further large signage to be strategically located near the computer clusters. I have also directed staff to have a much higher presence on the top floor. Typically when students see staff they tend to go back to silent study. Are you aware that some individual study booths have been relocated near the silent study rooms on the top floor? These do not have computers but they have been located next to power points if you happen to have your own device. I hope these actions make a difference to the current noise issues.
Kind regards
Kim

Bathroom Doors

From the Feedback Box:

Oil the bathroom doors (numbers 226, 227) on 3rd/very top floor to stop them from squeaking so much. Would be cool instead of listening every time someone opens the door. Thanks

Library Response:
 Hi,
I will get our facilities people to check this out and see what they can do to remedy the problem.
Kind regards
Kim
